Are Saggy Pants Here to Stay?

With Andrew Lewis' new invention, "Subs", the saggy pants style may be here to stay a little while longer. Growing up in Harlem, Andrew became annoyed at seeing sagging pants around the neighborhood. Subs allows you to wear your pants as low as you want without showing your "butt crack" or constantly pulling up your pants. They also allow you to wear them higher in the front and lower in the back or vice versa. Subs retail for about $30.00.

The First Male Cover!!!

In spring 2006, ExceptioNail Magazine became ExceptioNail Beauty Magazine and became the most complete, professional written media dedicated to both canadian nail technicians and makeup artists. In it's four years a male has never been on a cover.

Since the unveiling of OPI's matte polish line, I've wanted to get some of my male clients to try polish on for size. With a little bribing, my son wore Russian Navy on his toes for three weeks. All his friends got a kick out of it. Truth be told, he secretly liked all the attention he got from sporting flip-flops and polish.

During a shoot with Steven D. Hill and Brandon Bell, I suggested we polish his nails, submit it to the magazine and see what follows. The response from the magazine was amazing....once the"proper people" gave the ok. Now the first male has graced the cover of ExceptioNail Beauty Magazine!!!

Desert Bound!!!

I'm very honored to be working on a cover for Twisted South Magazine.....this will be the first issue that a non-music related face will grace the cover. QC Cong and I are sure to deliver above and beyond expectations. With QC's eye to capture the very essence of the soul and my styling and artistic direction, history will be made. The Arizona desert will be our playground!!!

Photo Shoot with London Levi (ANTM Cycle 12)

It was such a pleasant joy shooting London Levi today. Her laid back demeanor and eclectic attire; sweater dress, brim hat and low cut boots gave me the inspiration I needed. Since her appearance on Tyra Bank's Americas Next Top Model (Cycle 12) , London seems to be more relaxed an in tune with herself which she attributes to growing more mature with each year. Realizing that as long as she's happy with herself, the opinion of others don't matter much. London is currently signed to Page Parkes Dallas so I'm certain we will see more of her soon!!!

Leather Socks?

Living in Texas, we don't have a "true" winter as people from the north normally say....There really isn't a need for big fur coats, long trenches, and "real" snow boots other than to show off your winter fashions; although a few will beg to differ considering the weather over the last couple of weeks.

Rachel Comey, has hit it on the mark once again with her collection of leather socks. With leather socks you can still wear your black mules, wedges or heels and feel the warmth of boots without investing in them.

Alkhemi Jones | Meets Steven D. Hill & Traci Moore from Steven D. Hill on Vimeo.

I had the privilege of attending Reciprocity Live where I was able to watch the performance of the evening by Alkhemi Jones. Before attending the show, I saw behind the scenes footage from her new single Dreamin' and was all too curious to meet this super laid back, full of opinion and personality, five foot what, I don't know... sister. Through Rasheed Aziz, I was able to set up a photo shoot and interview before she left for Atlanta.

Moore: At what age did you decide to persue a career in the music/entertainment industry?

Jones: I seriously thought about a career in entertainment when I was twelve.

Moore: Who are your musical influences?

Jones: Back then it was people like MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, and Lauren Hill.

Moore: If you could collaborate with anyone in the industry, who would it be?

Jones: Little Wayne and The Spirit on the same record... that would be crazy; featuring Alkhemi Jones of course.

Moore: Being a Dallas native, how was the transition from Dallas to New York to Atlanta?

Jones: It was challenging like everything in life that you do when you don't have a bunch of money...it was definitely rewarding, I can't complain.... it's one of the best things I could've done.

Moore: How would you describe the differences in cultures of the three cities?

Jones: I think Dallas is a haven for creative creations. Dallas creates trends cause we don't follow...I feel like New York's culture is already established so things just kinda fall into place. I feel that Atlanta is definitely on the fashion and music side of things but they are always current with what ever is hot. Dallas isn't like that. It's what each individual person thinks is hot is what makes it hot. In Dallas we can go to the thrift stores and put together an individual look that becomes art.

Moore: After listening to your new single Dreamin' I really wanted to know more about who you are....so what makes you uniquely you?

Jones: I think my experiences makes me who I am. I have had wonderful, beautiful people around me that have helped motivate and cultivate me. I can't take anything away from any of them because they helped create Alkhemi.

Moore: What are your future plans.... what can we expect from you?

Jones: To blow the F**K up.Keep pushing forward for those who are ready to hear my music and shock those who ain't ready!

It was a great pleasure working with Alkhemi and I expect great things from such a talented sister.

Be You!!!

When you see someone for the first time whether it's when you're walking in a mall, down the streets of uptown, or just in a corner store, your judgement cap go on. We tend to judge people by what they are wearing, their hair style, their makeup etc. So many of us dress in a "cookie cutter" style.... what ever we see in the store window, the latest catalog, or on the hottest celebrity is what we purchase. Human perception places you in a specific category based on you wear.

I invite you to travel through my personal world of fashion and creativity with the hope that my insight helps to bring out your own personal style.
